Our 6th-8th grade curriculum is continuing to evolve to offer our students numerous opportunities to explore science in ways that encourage them to get involved in the learning process.
Starting with the 2017-2018 school year, we will be implementing a 2-year science program for all 7th & 8th grade students. Regardless of grade level, all 7th & 8th graders will be studying the same topics in science class this year.
This year's curriculum (called Science A) will include the typical 8th grade curriculum along with a few new topics. All 7th & 8th grade students will begin the year exploring topics in ecology during first quarter, chemistry during second quarter, genetics during the third quarter, and topics in forensic science during 4th quarter.
For the 2018-2019 school year, the typical 7th grade curriculum will be incorporated into the Science B program and adapted for all students in grades 7 & 8. Students will begin the year exploring topics in biology during first quarter, physics during second quarter, and earth science during 3rd & 4th quarters. The iDuck program will still continue and is offered as an extra curricular activity. Check out our shows from the past at iducknetwork.com!
Students will use a Handy Dandy Science Notebook (HDSN), which is my version of an "interactive science notebook" for my science classes. All class worksheets and activities will be glued into the notebooks along with other information presented and/or discussed in class. The HDSN will be integrated with the 1:1 laptop program we are continuing this year.
